Really addictive and tough but not impossible with some concentration!Would have been a real joystick breaker for me back in 1993 ;) - Love that multi-player is supported, reminds me of all the hours I played Lifeforce Salamander with one of my friends.... A great bit of Amiga shmup nostalgia. I went straight to hardcore mode so there is a life limit. It even has the 4 channel sound.. Just because a game is not bad doesn't mean that it's good. The game has no sound controls and no way to remap the keys. The gameplay is the same as in any Shoot Em Up game,. There are lots of trashy quasi-oldschool type games on Steam, but just few of them deserve a mention.1993 Space Machine is made from steel and going straight from the heart. It's old school, R-Type like shoot'em up with very strong Amiga era reminiscence. This game is difficult, unforgiving and has beautiful, classic graphics taken straight from Agony, Blood Money, or Atomic Boy games. If you remember Psygnosis, i'm sure you know what i mean.If you still love those museal games - don't think - just buy it! If you hesitate, or don't give a crap about this hipster eyesore, just forget about it and move along:-). I've seen a few reviews claiming the difficulty is rough, but I find that it's much, much easier and more forgiving than other space shooters. I can barely beat a single stage of Gradius, but here I find myself steadily going through them, though not without deaths, because they are still challenging. It's balanced much more fairly than all the other scrolling shmups I've played, touching the floor isn't an instant death, and there is no lives system, only checkpoints. If you've ever played a scrolling shooter in your life you'll probably do just fine here. The weapon system works wonderfully and the shield is an interesting mechanic that allows you to tank a few hits if you've got it facing the right direction, a nice break from dying in one hit with no exceptions. Easy to learn but difficult to master very much applies to this game.. +Stellar music bringing me back at least 23 years.+Simple but challenging gameplay with multiple upgradeable ships and weapons.+Co-op with up to 5 friend.+Potatoboss.- Depending of your generation you might find this price a bit steep7+ \/ 10 "Space shooters never die, but you will, many many times...". A solid shoot'em up.The game is fair and the upgrade system, while pretty barebones, is enjoyable.Be warned, it's very short.Recommended for a low price.. Honestly this game is not worth 11.99.It IS a decent side scrolling spaceship shooter, sound is mediocre, design is boring and the story is weak.compare this game to R-Type, Gradius, or even Darius and it doesn't hold a candle.I mean if this game is your thing, and you enjoy the genre by all means go for it. Keep in mind that there are much nicer modern side scrolling space shooters now which are better choices.
